Batá - Yorúbàn-Style, carved in Nigera - Hyperbola-shaped Yoruba ritual drum carved from Oma wood and headed with goatskin. Leather strap (Indian tabla-style) tuning. Fabric shoulder strap. Drum made for spiritual context but is suitable for a full range of musical styles. Provenance: Ginger Baker, an English Drummer from the band Cream & Blind Faith. This African Drum was collected by Ginger Baker, on his visit to Africa with his first wife Elizabeth. It remained with Baker's wife until a recent Bonhams Auction in London.
