Lega bone flutes/whistles are used for the "Bwami" society. Teachings of the "Bwami" doctrine permeates all aspects of life in the Lega culture. The smooth polished surfaces of this sculptured flute alludes to the refined and perfected nature of the Bwami initiate. Tribal Congo Gallery in Bujumbura, Burndi purchased this from a carver to be sold for the art market.
