Bwa Flute/Whistle (Mpiru) from Burkina Faso, Black Volta River region. Collected by David Stiffler. Signs of age and usage, but plays well. Flutes are used to accompany ceremonies and can be used to communicate the local languages that are tonal and have rhythmic language patterns. Flutes are often traded, making it difficult to attribute to one group or another.
