Length: 10.5 inches; Height: 6 inches This heavy pottery Toltec trumpet is in the shape of a conch shell terminating in a Jaguar's head as it emerges from the shell. The jaguar stands supported by his two front legs and is depicted with bulging eyes, pointed ears and an open mouth showing several teeth. The mineral stained slip is highly burnished and there is just a minor repair. A very unique, hand-modeled instrument.
