The gunibri (gunbri) is a small 3-string long-neck spike lute used in Moroccan classical music. There are several qualities; this one has a tortoise shell resonator. It is called fakroun or fakrun (= "tortoise"). The neck is painted black, with scratches to reveal the wood underneath as decoration and shows an Islamic final above the string pegs. The gunibri is a small gunbri, with 3 nylon strings. There are several qualities. The example has the back of the body made with a tortoise shell, and has quite a thick skin. It is called fakroun or fakrun (= "tortoise"). This gunibri is sometimes called suissen and is used in a certain type of Moroccan classical music.
