Bb Keyed Bugle - Maker unmarkd @ 1830's. Keyed bugles were an early attempt to make a chromatic cornet before the invention of valves. The keyed bugle was first patented in 1810 by an Irish bandmaster, Joseph Halliday, who perhaps was inspired by the keyed trumpets of Austrian musician Anton Wedinger. The keyed bugle became known as the Kent horn in honor of the Duke of Kent, head of the British forces in the British military bands.
