LuteRubab (Rabab) - AKabul, Afghanistan Trunk made of Mulberry tree, goat skin, nylon strings, with ebony, abalone/shell and bone inlay Length: 36 inches This rubab (rabab) is a short-necked lute with three melody strings tuned in fourths, three drone strings and 12 sympathetic strings. It is one of the two national instruments of Afghanistan. Neighboring countries like Iran and Pakistan use a similar made instrument in their classical music.
