Yoruba ceremonial drum with figure assembly from Nigeria. Every two years in March the Yoruba have a mask feast for three days that is meant to secure fertility and prosperity of the community. Drums such as this are carved specifically for these fertility ceremonies. . It is made wood, with raphia fibers and stringed with leather.
