Fender FV-1 Electric Violin

United States

Spruce, maple, ebony

This full-size electric violin features a chambered body, solid spruce top, maple back and sides, ebony fingerboard, and special-design piezo electric bridge. Finish is in polar white color. Leo Fender filed an application for an "electric violin, and electromagnetic pickup thereafter" on June 2, 1958. Later, April 10, 1959 he made a second application for an "electric violin body" design. He was then granted a patent on October 25, 1960 for his electric violin body design. The following year, on October 10, 1961, Leo was granted a patent for his electric violin with pickup device. The new Fender Company (CBS) re-launched an electric violin with the FV-1 and FV-3 models, in 1999.
