A rare Nicoya zoomorphic effigy drum from the the Nicoya peninsula of the Guanacaste province, Costa Rica. It is a Mora Polychrome - Guabal variety type that is executed in the form of a peccary with a rattle in the head. The drum head originally of organic materials did not survive. Great patina and strong dendrites.
